Interpretation of necropsy report:
The most encompassing finding is that of ankylosing spondylosis
at multiple levels of the spine, causing spinal root compression
and secondary neurogenic atrophy. There were special stains
performed to rule out degenerative myelopathy in this case.
There is also mild osteoarthritis (degenerative joint disease)
in both shoulders and the left elbow. There are no changes
suggestive of elbow dysplasia. There is no evidence of DJD or
dysplasia of the hips.
There is a cancer of the right testicle (interstitial cell
tumor) causing secondary atrophy of the testes and prostate
gland.
There are changes in the liver and spleen, which are most likely
age-related. There is significant dental tartar and gum
disease, which are also likely due to age. There is no evidence
of primary disease in the digestive, cardiovascular, immune or
neurological systems, or in the eyes or skin. |
